Our editorial take on the DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone
The DJI Mini 3 Pro effectively created a new class of drone, raising the bar for what we expect from a sub-250g airframe. By packing in features once exclusive to its larger, more expensive siblings, DJI delivered a truly powerful tool for creators on the move. The combination of a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor, crisp 4K/60p video, and, most critically, tri-directional obstacle avoidance makes it both a capable and forgiving aircraft to fly. These advanced safety features provide a level of confidence that was previously unheard of in the Mini line, making it a compelling upgrade and a formidable creative partner.
The 'Pro' designation is well-earned, evident in features like the gimbal's ability to rotate for true vertical video, a huge plus for social media content. However, this professional feature set comes with a professional price tag. The significant cost increase over the non-pro models or its predecessors pushes it beyond a simple entry-level recommendation. It exists in a unique space as either a high-end starter drone or a highly portable secondary unit for seasoned pilots. While it may show some instability in strong winds, its overall performance package remains impressive and relevant even as newer models arrive.
- Excellent 4K/60p video and 48MP photo quality
- Sub-250g weight avoids registration in many regions
- Tri-directional obstacle avoidance greatly enhances flight safety
- Gimbal rotates 90 degrees for true vertical shooting
- Highly portable and compact design
- Includes advanced features like subject tracking
- Significantly more expensive than other entry-level drones
- Can struggle with stability in strong wind conditions
- Premium price may be prohibitive for beginners

DJI Mini 3 Pro has just been announced – the newest sub-250g drone from DJI. It brings a new body with multi-directional collision sensors and an improved 90° rotatable camera that is capable of 48MP photos and up to 4K60 video. The Mini 3 Pro is available now starting at $669 / €739 (including VAT).
When it comes to drones, most people think of DJI. And for good reason. They cornered the market on quality drones that are easy to use.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone is lightweight with superb image quality, boasting a 1 x 1.3" sensor, 4K60p video, tri-directional obstacle avoidance sensor, 8K hyper-lapse shooting, vertical shooting mode, and more!
I didn't like the Mini 3 Pro at first due to its slow 48MP function and instability in strong winds, but after being forced to use it again, I learned to appreciate its portability and overcome its flaws, now able to shoot beautiful photos with it on every trip.
I always thought the DJI Mini 2 was the perfect drone for most pilots — either beginners looking for a reliable drone or experienced pilots who want a more portable solution. The newly announced DJI Mini 3 Pro drastically improves image quality, but at a starting price of $759 (with the remote controller), it is no longer easy to recommend for everyone.
DJI's Mini 3 Pro is the new king of the lightweight drones, offering advanced obstacle detection, 4K 60p video, tracking, and superb maneuverability in a tiny package.
This popular option from arguably the biggest name on the drone scene is a real winner when it comes to value for money, and an excellent way to go if you’re sticking to a budget of under $400. We’d say at its current price, which appears to be the best of the year so far, it’s well worth jumping on and avoiding the Prime Day rush.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro offers a sophisticated and portable drone experience, making it a compelling, albeit pricey, option for entry-level users.
