Our editorial take on the DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera Adventure Combo
The DJI Osmo Action 4 cemented its place as a creator-favorite by focusing on the fundamentals. At its launch, the move to a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor delivered a tangible and much-appreciated boost in image quality, particularly in challenging low-light situations. This, combined with the professional-grade 10-bit D-Log M color profile, provided a robust foundation for creators who prioritize final image fidelity. It was never a revolutionary camera, but a highly refined one, building on the strengths of its predecessor with practical improvements like better battery life and the brilliantly convenient magnetic mounting system.
Today, the Action 4 exists in a more crowded and advanced market. With successors already available and rumors of significant future upgrades like 1-inch sensors on the horizon, it is no longer the top-tier performance option. It doesn't offer groundbreaking features compared to the latest flagships. However, this shift in the market has repositioned the Action 4 as a formidable value proposition. Its core performance remains excellent for the vast majority of users, and as its price settles, it becomes an increasingly smart purchase, especially when packaged as the Adventure Combo.
The Adventure Combo, with its extra batteries and multi-unit charging case, presents a complete and capable system right out of the box. While those who require the absolute cutting edge of action camera technology may look to newer models, the Action 4 offers a compelling balance of proven performance and affordability. It is a workhorse camera that has matured into an excellent entry point into a robust ecosystem.
