Our editorial take on the Insta360 Luna Ultra
The Insta360 Luna Ultra is a dual-lens pocket vlogging camera designed to go head-to-head with DJI's Osmo Pocket series. Co-engineered with Leica, it features a 50MP 1/1.28" sensor, 4K60 video, 6-axis FlowState stabilization with 360-degree horizon lock, and a 2.5-inch flip touchscreen that doubles as a removable wireless remote with a built-in mic. The Ultra shoots up to 4096 x 3072 at 60fps and 240fps in HD, with 8-bit HDR and a 180Mbps bitrate. It offers extensive video modes including FreeFrame, TimeShift, and Pre-Recording, plus fast charging (12 minutes to 80% for the camera body). With IPX4 waterproofing to 33 feet and 200 minutes of battery life between the camera and Action Pod, it's built for extended vlogging sessions.
Reviewers are genuinely excited about the Luna Ultra's innovative removable screen-remote combo, which sets it apart from the competition. The dual-lens setup and Leica branding have generated buzz, and early hands-on impressions suggest it delivers strong image quality and stabilization. The form factor and feature set position it as a direct Pocket 4 rival, and most testers see it as a compelling alternative with unique advantages. At $799.99, it's priced at the premium end of the pocket camera category, but the bundled accessories and versatility justify the cost for serious vloggers.

Insta360 is stepping into DJI territory again—this time going after the pocket vlogging camera market.
The Insta360 Luna is already available for preorder in China, but a new hands on video reveals a feature you won’t find on DJI’s. The controls and rotating screen on the front of the Luna and dual-lens Luna Ultra are removable, becoming a wireless remote that even has a built-in microphone.
Insta360 teased several new devices at NAB 2026 last month, including a possible DJI Osmo rival with dual cameras called the Luna. While the camera isn't ready just yet, an upgraded version of its wireless mic is.
It will be interesting to see the new cameras side by side once they are released and thoroughly tested. It’s another sign of DJI and Insta360 going head-to-head, not only in court, but also with new products.
