Our editorial take on the Razer Ring Light (12")
Razer's move into standalone lighting with the 12-inch Ring Light is a logical extension from its popular Kiyo webcam. This is a straightforward, no-frills product designed to solve one of the most common problems for streamers: poor lighting. The unit delivers on its core promise, providing even, adjustable illumination directly from a convenient USB power source. It offers three standard color temperatures and a range of brightness levels, which are the table stakes for any ring light in today's market.
While functionally sound, the product's value proposition is less clear. The performance is perfectly adequate for its intended purpose of flattering a webcam feed, but it does little to stand out in a heavily saturated market. At its price point, it faces intense competition from a legion of brands offering similar or even larger lights for less money. The included tripod is functional for desktop use but feels basic, and the overall plastic construction does not scream premium. This ring light ultimately feels like an accessory for the Razer faithful rather than a market-leading lighting tool.
- Provides soft, even lighting that's great for webcams
- Offers three distinct color temperature modes (warm, balanced, cool)
- Adjustable brightness levels
- Simple USB-powered setup is convenient for desktops
- Includes both a tripod and a mobile phone holder
- Priced significantly higher than many competitors
- The included tripod is short and offers limited height adjustment
- Overall build quality feels plasticky for the cost
- Lacks software integration with Razer Synapse

For most streamers, the Logitech StreamCam remains the best balance of quality, affordability, and ease of use. For the sharpest possible picture, the Elgato Facecam Pro offers full 4K/60p recording with exceptional detail. Budget-conscious users will be pleased with the Logitech C922x, while the Razer Kiyo Pro offers strong low-light performance and an optional ring light for nighttime streams. Creators who want an all-in-one vlogging camera that doubles as a webcam should consider the Canon PowerShot V10.

What is the definition of a professional-grade laptop? Is tagging a Pro label at the end of the model name sufficient? What about not just one, but three 17″ 4K screens, for a total of 11.520 x 2.160 pixels? Razer’s Project Valerie is exactly that.

The Razer Kiyo webcam comes with an adjustable ring light with twelve white LEDs, which you can control to twelve levels of brightness. The webcam looks good in theory, but it faces an uphill battle for adoption, as most popular streamers don’t seem to have any major lighting problems and therefore, might not need a selfie light.
Still, the Kiyo could be attractive to someone who has a darker room and needs to stream a better image.
