The Ricoh WG-60 is a budget-friendly rugged compact aimed squarely at casual adventurers who need a camera that can handle water, cold, and bumps without breaking the bank. It's waterproof to 14 meters, shockproof to 1.6 meters, and coldproof to minus 10 degrees Celsius, with six LED macro lights around the lens for close-up work underwater. The 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch sensor and 5x optical zoom (28-140mm equivalent) keep things simple, and video tops out at 1080p at 30 fps.

Reviewers found the WG-60 capable in its niche but not impressive. Consumer Reports rated photo quality as only fair, though outdoor performance scored better. The camera delivers the durability specs you expect from a tough compact, and the macro lights are a nice touch for underwater shooting. But image quality lags behind what you'd get from a modern smartphone in good light, and the aging sensor and modest zoom leave little room for flexibility.
