This is not a simple refresh; it's a top-to-bottom overhaul that addresses nearly every critique of the original while boosting performance across the board. The most immediate improvement is the physical design. By making the lens significantly smaller and lighter, Sigma has transformed this workhorse zoom from a capable but cumbersome tool into a far more practical companion for all-day shoots, travel, and gimbal work. This alone would be a worthy update, but the improvements run much deeper.
