Sony FE 50mm f/2.5 G Lens Review

The FE 50mm F2.5 G combines the high image quality of a G Lens with a compact and lightweight form factor. These three new Sony lenses could be a decent solution to this problem (or at least one of them), as they seem to offer great performance, along with a lightweight and compact design.

Not to be confused with the GM (G Master) line up, the three lenses are designed to be compact & lightweight.

Recognizing that not every lens needs to be the fastest or most optically advanced, these three lenses are all about usability and style. They’re G lenses, meaning not quite the top-tier G Master series, but Sony’s second tier of lenses that offer impressive sharpness with more modest designs.

It feels lighter and smaller than it should in the hand, only further adding to the impressiveness of its performance of image quality and autofocusing. And after paying the Sony premium for years, at $2,000 it’s actually the least expensive 50mm f/1.2 full-frame mirrorless option when comp.

Sony's new prime lenses are the small saviors I've been looking for. While they uphold the reputation of quality Sony has established with the G lineup, it’s their uniformity and small size that come as a welcomed surprise.
