Our editorial take on the Teradek Serv Pro

The Teradek Serv Pro offers network-based video monitoring for production environments. It connects to cameras via SDI or HDMI and transmits video wirelessly, supporting resolutions up to 1080p with a stated 2-frame latency. This system is designed for multi-device viewing, allowing up to 10 simultaneous connections to iOS, Android, or macOS devices running the Vuer app.

Built with an aluminum chassis, the device integrates Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) dual-band connectivity. Its I/O options include HD-SDI and HDMI video inputs, a 3.5mm mic/line audio input, and an RJ45 LAN port. Power is supplied via a 2-pin DC input, accepting 6 to 28 VDC. With its capability for multiple simultaneous connections and broad device compatibility, it targets productions requiring widespread monitoring.

While its latency is specified at 2 frames, actual performance can be influenced by network conditions and receiving device capabilities. The H.264 video encoding at up to 15 Mb/s and AAC-LC/MPEG Layer 2 audio compression support common production workflows, providing a solution for on-set monitoring.

Best for: This system is best for production teams needing a multi-device, low-latency monitoring solution across various mobile and desktop platforms.

Teradek SERV Pro – wireless video monitoring without the hassle

My clients loved the fact that they could see everything on their own smartphone, and let's face it, little touches like this are what helps you get repeat customers. Being able to have up to 10 people connect to one SERV Pro is really nice as you don't need to go to the added expense of buying multiple receivers, monitors, brackets and power supplies.
