Our editorial take on the Wireless GO II 2-Person Compact Digital Wireless Microphone System/Recorder (2.4 GHz, Black)
The RØDE Wireless GO II fundamentally altered the landscape for content creators, establishing itself as the go-to workhorse for compact wireless audio. By ingeniously packing a dual-channel system into the same pocketable form factor as its predecessor, it made two-person interviews and more complex audio setups incredibly accessible. The addition of onboard recording was a masterstroke, providing a mission-critical safety net that has saved countless projects from wireless dropouts or interference. It is a system built on reliability and a proven track record.
While the market has become more crowded since its release, with strong competition from DJI and even newer models from RØDE itself, the Wireless GO II remains a benchmark for performance and portability. The core features hold up exceptionally well. The ability to capture two high-quality audio sources to a single, tiny receiver is still a game-changer for run-and-gun videographers, vloggers, and mobile journalists. Its sound quality is consistently clear, and its digital transmission is robust.
Ultimately, the Wireless GO II is no longer the only option in its class, but it has transitioned from being the exciting new thing to being the trusted, industry-standard tool. It's a system you can build a workflow around and depend on, project after project. While newer systems may offer different user experiences or features like 32-bit float, the GO II provides everything most creators need in a straightforward, battle-tested package.
- Dual-channel system records two separate audio sources
- Onboard recording on transmitters acts as a crucial backup
- Extremely compact, lightweight, and portable design
- Reliable wireless connection with long-range performance
- Versatile feature set accessible via the RØDE Central app
- Faces strong competition from newer systems (including from RØDE)
- Accessing onboard recordings and advanced settings requires connecting to a computer
- Built-in mics are serviceable but external lavaliers are needed for professional results
- Lacks 32-bit float recording found on more recent models

I’ve used this mic to cover product launches and create footage in noisy environments, and it produces a great sound.
The Wireless GO II doesn’t stray too far from the original, and RØDE has kept the same pocket-sized form factor, but it has added a host of new features that have been implemented to make it a more capable and versatile product.

This Q&A provides insights into the RØDE Wireless GO II, covering its features, capabilities, and how to optimize its use based on common questions.
Rode has announced a new wireless microphone that carries the advantages of the company’s RodeLink and Wireless Go series but compresses them into a device that was designed to have “unprecedented” ease of use.
Like its predecessor, the Go II is a compact wireless microphone pack designed for the creator who wants a lighter gear bag in the field (or is on a budget), while still being able to use a dedicated off-camera audio system.
Most notably, the kit now comes with two transmitters (and one receiver). Owners of the original version will tell you that one of the more limiting factors was that you could only record one sound source (unless you wanted to get into splitter cables and the like). Now, you can record two presenters or one voice and some ambience (or any other creative configuration) right out of the box.
