Amaran 200x Review
Live prices and creator coverage for the Amaran 200x - everything in one place.

Our editorial take on the Amaran 200x
The Amaran 200x, and particularly its successor the 200x S, represents a watershed moment in affordable lighting. It successfully packs a powerful 200-watt bi-color output into a lightweight, all-in-one fixture that punches well above its price class. For solo creators and small crews, the simplicity of having no separate ballast is a significant workflow advantage, making setup and breakdown fast and efficient. This light firmly establishes that high output and accessibility are no longer mutually exclusive.
While the original 200x was a breakthrough for its brightness-for-the-price, the newer 200x S model is the one we unequivocally recommend. Its revised chipset delivers vastly superior color accuracy, correcting the noticeable green-magenta shift of its predecessor and making it a truly viable professional tool. Of course, compromises exist for a light at this price point. The build is primarily plastic and lacks the ruggedness of Aputure's premium Light Storm series. However, with the inclusion of the excellent Sidus Link app control and a universal Bowens mount, the 200x S is a remarkably compelling and complete package.
- Exceptional brightness for its price and size
- Excellent color accuracy and quality on the 'S' version
- Lightweight, compact all-in-one design is easy to handle
- Integrates seamlessly with the Sidus Link app ecosystem
- Standard Bowens mount offers broad modifier compatibility
- Predominantly plastic construction feels less durable
- Onboard fan can be audible in quiet environments
- Original non-S model has inferior color rendition
- Does not include a carrying case
