Our editorial take on the DJI Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo
The DJI Mavic 3 Cine is less of a consumer drone and more of a specialized aerial cinematography system. Its core appeal is straightforward: it delivers professional-grade Apple ProRes footage from a stunning 4/3 sensor, recorded directly to a built-in 1TB SSD. For serious filmmakers working within a professional post-production pipeline, these features are game-changers, dramatically streamlining workflows and ensuring maximum data for color grading. The addition of a multi-camera system on the Pro models further enhances its value, providing true optical versatility with multiple focal lengths that outclass digital zoom in every way.
This professional focus, however, comes at a very steep price. The 'Cine' designation carries a significant premium that is difficult to justify for anyone outside of its target audience. While the footage is undeniably gorgeous, the standard Mavic 3 models produce fantastic H.265 video that is more than sufficient for most commercial work, vlogging, and advanced hobbyist projects. The decision to invest in the Cine version boils down to a simple question of workflow. If your projects live and die by the ProRes codec, the expense is a necessary and worthwhile business investment. For everyone else, it is an impressive but ultimately unnecessary luxury.

The new DJI Mavic 3 Pro features the same body as existing DJI Mavic 3 series drones, but it brings a new larger gimbal-stabilized camera unit with three cameras.
For the most part, they are very similar, but the Cine model has more internal storage and records ProRes HQ. Why no other ProRes options? Good question. I think for most users, the Mavic 3, not “cine,” will be a better option as H.265 is pretty darn good.
With drone technology being so good, the optical design is one area where drone technology improvements are still significant. Most drones feature fixed focal length lenses and only digital zoom, limiting still and video capture possibilities.
DJI’s latest flagship drone, the Mavic 3 Pro, now has a medium-tele camera, slightly less battery life, and comes at a $150 premium over the previous non-pro model.
It can also fly for up to 46 minutes, 50 percent longer than before.
Black Friday is around the corner, bringing with it the potential to save hundreds on high-value items. Major brands and retailers, like DJI, participate in the annual sales event, offering discounts on a wide range of products, from cameras to consumer drones. While the best drone deals will be reserved for Black Friday itself, there are already some lucrative discounts being offered.
