SSL 2+ MKII USB-C Audio/MIDI Interface Review

The Solid State Logic SSL 2+ MKII is a compact USB-C audio interface designed for producers, podcasters, and musicians. It offers up to 32-bit / 192 kHz audio quality and features two SSL-designed microphone preamps. The unit includes two discrete headphone outputs and a stereo loopback function, which can be useful for content creators. Its bus-powered operation via USB-C enhances portability.

With two combo XLR-1/4" TRS inputs and an additional two 1/4" TS line/Hi-Z inputs, the SSL 2+ MKII provides flexibility for connecting various instruments and microphones. Phantom power is individually selectable for each mic input, which is a practical feature. MIDI I/O is also included, expanding its utility for users with external hardware synthesizers or controllers.

While offering a robust feature set for its class, the SSL 2+ MKII does not include a pad on its inputs, built-in DSP, or dedicated solo/mute buttons. Users requiring more extensive I/O or advanced routing capabilities beyond its 2-in/4-out configuration may need to consider other options.
