Weighing just 930 grams and measuring 269.5mm extended (199.5mm retracted), it's a fraction of the size and weight of conventional 600mm lenses, making it practical for handheld wildlife and sports shooting. The fixed f/11 aperture is the trade-off for this portability, limiting low-light performance and depth-of-field control, but modern high-ISO capabilities on EOS R bodies help offset this.
