Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Super Wide-Heliar II Aspherical Lens for Leica M-Mount, Black Review

The Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Super Wide-Heliar II Aspherical is a compact ultra-wide prime designed for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras. At 15mm, it delivers an exceptionally broad field of view suitable for architecture, landscapes, and street photography where context and environmental storytelling matter. The f/4.5 maximum aperture keeps the optical formula simple and the lens physically small, a trade-off that favors portability over low-light flexibility.

Voigtlander's aspherical design aims to control distortion and maintain sharpness across the frame, important qualities at this focal length. The 52mm filter thread is a practical size for wide-angle work. Priced at $429 MSRP, it slots in as an affordable entry point for M-mount shooters seeking an ultra-wide option without stepping up to Leica's significantly more expensive equivalents. This is a lens for rangefinder users who value size and cost over speed, and who shoot in conditions where f/4.5 is workable.
