Live prices and creator coverage for the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 Ultron (I) VM Lens for Leica M-Mount, Black - everything in one place.
Our editorial take on the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 Ultron (I) VM Lens for Leica M-Mount, Black
The Voigtlander 28mm f/2 Ultron (I) VM is a compact wide-angle prime designed for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras. At $477 MSRP, it sits in the value tier of M-mount glass, offering a classic 28mm field of view with a reasonably bright f/2 maximum aperture. This first-generation Ultron is a mechanical lens built around traditional optical design, aimed at shooters who want rangefinder compatibility without the cost of Leica-branded alternatives.
The 46mm filter thread and included hood suggest modest dimensions, which aligns with the compact ethos of M-mount systems. As a manual-focus lens, it relies on rangefinder coupling for accurate focusing, making it best suited to photographers comfortable with that workflow. Voigtlander's VM lineup has historically delivered good optical performance for the price, though build quality and rendering can vary by generation.
- Affordable entry into Leica M-mount wide-angle shooting
- Compact form factor with 46mm filter thread
- Fast enough f/2 aperture for available light
- No user reviews available to confirm optical or build performance
- Manual focus only, requires rangefinder familiarity
